Consumer Testimonials

I have only had this adapter for a few days, but i am extremely pleased with it. I am making use of it with a Sony alpha 55-200 lens. With the 3. firmware update and the firmware update for the adapter, you will be in a position to automobile focus with most Sony alpha lenses. My only complaint is that the auto concentrate is exceptionally slow, most of the time it is more rapidly to manually concentrate, and you can nonetheless use the manual focus assist choice which is pretty cool. If you are seeking for an adapter that will allow you to use other lenses this will do the trick, but if you want the lens to auto concentrate like the e mount lenses then this is not it. It takes about five seconds in most instances for the lens to auto focus as opposed to the e mount 18-55 which focuses just about immediately.

As a backup camera to my SLT-A55, I wanted my NEX-three to be able to use A-mount lenses on occasions. To that effect, the adapter operates properly. As a bonus, it came with a tripod mount which is a beneficial issue, considering the heft of countless of the A-mount lenses in my collection.
Please note that I stated the adapter operates properly but there are a couple of items to contemplate. I use NEX mainly with manual concentrate lenses. In truth, the only automobile-concentrate lens I have for E-Mount is the 18-55mm kit lens. But, with a firmware update for LA-EA1 (on the market on Sony's support internet site), this adapter permits use of auto-focus feature on various A-mount lenses. Please note that this firmware update is in addition to firmware updates released for NEX cameras themselves. The auto-concentrate feature, in spite of this, has its limitations:
Auto Focus Compatibility: The A-mount lenses come with (old-fashioned) screw-drive, (fundamental) SAM or (advanced) SSM systems for auto-concentrate. Along with these, I also have a lens with Sigma's HSM drive (equivalent to Sony's SSM). Automobile-focus by way of LA-EA1 functions finest with SAM. It functions with SSM as effectively, but appears to take longer. It does not perform with the Sigma HSM (while, the drive is recognized but the camera continues to attempt focusing). A screw-drive lens is rendered a manual focus lens as the adapter has no manage over the mechanical method that those lenses demand.
Automobile Concentrate Speed: As talked about above, LA-EA1 auto concentrate capability functions top/seamlessly with SAM lens. It is nevertheless slow taking a handful of seconds prior to concentrate is set. The capability is about as fine with SSM lenses, nonetheless it is not as seamless. SSM lens will inevitably try to rapidly concentrate, overshoot and then attempt to focus in tiny measures (hence, not as seamless as SAM) taking a couple of seconds. With Sigma HSM drive, the focusing under no circumstances takes place (I have not tried it in brightly lit circumstances, and if I do and acquire a distinct result, will update this assessment). If Auto focus speed is vital, LA-EA2 can be the way to go.
Manual Focusing: If you worth MF more than AF as I do, this adapter gets the job done and really effectively (for less). In reality, my Sony 135mm STF (a manual concentrate only lens) is fairly a lot a mainstay on this adapter as it gets employed largely with the NEX (thanks to the concentrate peaking feature that Sony chose to preserve out of A55).
Would I suggest it? Most certainly, if you are not averse to focusing manually for most element, and slow auto-concentrate does not bother you to be in a position to use SAM and SSM A-mount lenses. But if faster auto-focusing is a requirement, I will recommend LA-EA2 as an alternative.
